The Primus Firestick Stove is a nice little gas stove with a very unique design that should make it more windproof than other stoves. I have been using the Firestick from Primus for a couple of months now and have found the answer to the question: is really that windproof? See for yourself and enjoy the videoreview!

Primus Firestick size and weight
The Primus Firestick Stove has a packsize of 36 x 103 mm and the weight of the whole package of 134,1 grams is quite nice. It fits very easy in a side pocket of a backpack. To light the Firestick a separate piezo is supplied.
Woolen pouch
The Primus Firestick comes in a nice woolen pouch. I do like the fact that it is wool but it has the disadvantage that thorny stuff will stick to it if you lay it aside in nature. The pouch has an envelope shape with openings and it is possible to lose the piezo. The same problem I had withe Primus Primus PrimeTech Stove Set I reviewed a while ago.
Pot supports & lighting
The stove has three pot supports that are held together during transport with a metal twist cap. This one is also prone to getting lost. Lighting the stove with a pot on the potsupports is not easy. Neither is lighting the Firestick without the pot on top in windy conditions. The wide pot supports don’t give a great amount of wind protection in practice. The pot support doesn’t provide great grip to the pot either.
Boiling time and gas consumption
The boiling time I measured for 1 litre of water of 20 degrees Celsius is on average 4 min and 45 seconds with a regular pot and 3 min 25 seconds with a Primus Etapower pot with heat exchanger. Primus claims 3 min 30 seconds. The gas consumption I measured was 12,8 grams and 9,4 grams with the pot with heat exchanger. Not bad values but not great either.
Verdict
I had high hopes for the compact folding Primus Firestick Stove, but unfortunately I’m disappointed. The wool pouch is nice but prone to losing the Firestick potsupport cap and Piezo. I don’t like the pot supports because they are not very good at blocking the wind. The pros are that it is compact and lightweight. The Primus Firestick costs € 89.95/$ 89,95 in stainless steel and € 119.95/ $ 119.95 in Titanium. Since I don’t think the Firestick is that great and quite pricey, I give it a 6.3 out of 10 points.
