This vlog is about my trip to Stockholm and Idöborg island for the judging of Scandinavian outdoor gear at the Scandinavian Outdoor Award in Sweden for Fall/Winter 2022/2023. The vlog includes the official Scandinavian Outdoor Award video. Enjoy!
Twice a year the Scandinavian Outdoor Award are held: one for the spring/summer products and one for fall/winter. Before the pandemic the Jury-meetings were connected to the Outdoor by ISPO-trade show dates in Munich because it made traveling for everybody easy. Most meetings we had in nearby Kleinwalsertal in Austria. Because of the pandemic there were no ISPO trade shows and no physical jury-meetings; they were all held online and we tested at home.
Back to the cradle
For this Scandinavian Outdoor Award for Fall/Winter 2022/2023 jury meeting we got back to the cradle since the first jury meetings were held in Scandinavia. We assembled – most of the jury, some were not able to travel and joined by computer – in the Downtown Camper by Scandic hotel in Stockholm where we held our first meeting. The next day we traveled by bus and boat to the almost uninhabited Idöborg island in the Stockholm Archipelago. There we tested the products and decided which products deserved being awarded.
For record: I had quite some products sent to my house in advance to do some proper testing in The Netherlands too. I brought them in a huge Osprey Rolling Transporter 120 to Sweden.

Thank you
Many thanks to photographer Piotr ‘Dynamic’ Drozdz form the Polish outdoor and climbing magazine www.goryonline.com for the pictures, videomaker Darren ‘The English Swede’ Hamlin who provided me with the official Scandinavian Outdoor Award video and the organization for having me (again). And to of course our hosts Downtown Camper by Scandic Stockholm and Idöborg Island Retreat that provided a perfect backdrop for our jury-meetings and outdoor testing.
